Contribute to AMMOS

We are continually searching for innovative ways to improve the Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System (AMMOS) and are interested in hearing about your:

  • Ideas to improve current tools and services of the AMMOS
  • Needs for new capabilities in support of future NASA Missions
  • Existing tools or services that AMMOS could incorporate in support of multiple NASA missions
  • Ongoing research and technology that has the possibility of infusion into the AMMOS

The process to select and fund new capabilities or enhancements to the AMMOS is conducted every 2 years (Biennial "Call for Ideas"). Submissions are selected based on their alignment with the AMMOS System Strategic Goals and the needs of current/future missions.

PPBE Process
  • NASA funded Programs exercise a Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) cycle annually
  • A Call for Ideas to improve or contribute to AMMOS goes out in the fall.
  • NASA Employees from all centers are invited to submit their AMMOS ideas on-line through 15 January (Abstract phase)
  • If the idea meets the criteria for the future direction of the AMMOS, the submitter will be teamed with a member of the MGSS to refine the proposal in preparation for evaluation and review by the AMMOS Project User’s Group (PUG)
  • Accepted ideas are evaluated against the AMMOS needs and the 6-Year funding profile
  • Selection of the final proposals occurs in spring 2017

If you have a tool or service that can be used in a multimission environment for either Deep Space or Astrophysics missions and are not sure if this process is the right path for you, please contact the Assistant Program Manager for Strategic Planning who will be happy to discuss your options:
